Ultherapy
Overview
Have you noticed sagging skin and a loss of definition around your neck and jawline? Ultherapy is the only FDA-cleared non-surgical lifting treatment that uses focused ultrasound to lift and tighten the skin on the brows, under the chin, neck, and décolletage—helping you regain confidence and a more youthful contour without surgery.
How Ultherapy Works
Ultherapy uses focused ultrasound energy to deliver precise heat to the deeper layers of skin and the SMAS (Superficial Musculoaponeurotic System)—the same foundational layer that surgeons tighten during a facelift. The heat triggers your body’s natural healing response, stimulating new collagen production and gradually tightening the skin from the inside out.
Because the ultrasound energy passes through the surface and targets deeper tissue, the skin’s outer layer remains untouched—so there’s no break in the skin and no surface downtime.
What Ultherapy Treats
- Sagging skin on the neck and under the chin
- Loss of jawline definition (jowls)
- Drooping brows and a heavy upper-eye look
- Crepey skin and lines on the décolletage
- Mild-to-moderate facial laxity (the ${LDQ}gravity${RDQ} concerns)
Ultherapy vs. SkinTyte vs. PDO Threads
- Ultherapy — focused ultrasound to the SMAS, the deepest non-surgical lift available; one treatment, gradual results over 2${EM}3 months.
- SkinTyte — infrared light for surface and sub-surface firming; great for body skin laxity and milder facial firming.
- PDO Threads — physical lift via dissolvable threads + collagen stimulation; immediate visible lift.
These options are sometimes combined for layered results. Your provider will recommend the right approach during your consultation.
What to Expect
Before
Your visit begins with a consultation to confirm Ultherapy is right for you. There’s no special preparation. We may apply a topical numbing cream and offer an oral comfort medication for sensitive areas.
During
The treatment typically takes 30—90 minutes depending on the area. Ultrasound visualization lets your provider see the layer being treated for precise energy delivery. Most patients describe the sensation as deep, brief bursts of heat—uncomfortable in moments but well-tolerated.
After
Most patients return to normal activities the same day. You may notice some redness, mild swelling, or tenderness for a few days. Your skin may feel firmer immediately as collagen contracts, but the more dramatic lifting develops gradually.
Results and Longevity
Some patients notice an immediate firming effect, but the true results—from new collagen formation—emerge over 2—3 months and continue to refine for up to 6 months. Results typically last 1—2 years, with maintenance treatments helping to preserve and build on the lift over time.
Individual results vary. Your provider will discuss a realistic outlook during your consultation.
