Micro-Needling

Overview

Micro-needling is an advanced skincare treatment that uses fine, sterile needles to create controlled microscopic punctures in the skin’s surface. These micro-injuries trigger your skin’s natural healing process, dramatically increasing the production of collagen and elastin—the structural proteins that keep skin firm, smooth, and youthful.

Often called collagen induction therapy, micro-needling effectively addresses skin damage, dark marks, sun damage, scars, fine lines, enlarged pores, and overall texture concerns with minimal downtime.

How Micro-Needling Works

Micro-needling operates through two complementary mechanisms:

  • Stimulation of Elastin and Collagen Synthesis — micro-injuries induce a natural wound-healing cascade, leading to new collagen and elastin production over the following weeks and months. Skin becomes firmer, smoother, and more resilient.
  • Enhanced Absorption — the micro-channels created by the needles allow topically applied serums (hyaluronic acid, peptides, growth factors, vitamin C) to penetrate far more effectively than they do through intact skin.

What Micro-Needling Treats

  • Acne scars and post-acne textural changes
  • Fine lines, wrinkles, and crow’s feet
  • Enlarged pores
  • Dull, rough, or uneven texture
  • Sun damage and hyperpigmentation
  • Surgical and traumatic scars
  • Stretch marks (in some cases)
  • Dark circles under the eyes (selectively)

What to Expect

Before

Your visit begins with a consultation. Avoid retinoids and exfoliating acids for several days before treatment. Topical numbing is applied 30—45 minutes before your appointment.

During

The treatment takes 30—60 minutes. The micro-needling device is moved across the skin in a precise pattern. Most patients describe the sensation as a mild prickle that is well-tolerated with numbing.

After

Expect mild redness similar to a sunburn for 12—48 hours. Most patients are presentable within 1—2 days. Use a gentle cleanser and SPF 30+ daily; avoid active ingredients (retinoids, acids) for several days post-treatment.

Results and Longevity

Initial brightening is often visible within a week. The deeper benefits—new collagen, refined texture, scar improvement—continue to develop over 3—6 months. Most patients see best results from a series of 3—6 sessions spaced 4—6 weeks apart, with periodic maintenance treatments to preserve gains.

Individual results vary. Your provider will discuss a realistic outlook during your consultation.
