Overview

Sculptra® is an innovative injectable formulated with poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) technology. Unlike traditional hyaluronic acid fillers, Sculptra is a biostimulator—it stimulates your body’s own collagen production over time, providing gradual, natural-looking results that can last up to two years.

How Sculptra Works

Sculptra’s active ingredient, poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), is a biocompatible, biodegradable material long used in dissolvable sutures. After injection, microparticles of PLLA stimulate fibroblasts in the skin to produce new collagen. As collagen rebuilds over weeks and months, your skin becomes thicker, firmer, and more lifted from within.

Because the result is your own collagen, the rejuvenation looks natural and continues to develop over 3—6 months.

What to Expect

Before

Your visit begins with a consultation. Your provider evaluates your facial volume and recommends a treatment plan—usually 2—3 sessions spaced about 4—6 weeks apart.

During

Each session takes approximately 30—45 minutes. Topical numbing is applied for comfort, and Sculptra is delivered with a fine needle or cannula in small, precise amounts.

After

Mild swelling, redness, or pinpoint bruising at the injection sites is normal and resolves quickly. To support optimal collagen stimulation, you’ll be asked to massage the treated areas several times daily for a few days following treatment (the “Sculptra massage” or 5-5-5 rule).

Results and Longevity

Initial volume from the carrier solution may be visible for the first 24—48 hours and then subsides. The true rejuvenation—your own new collagen—emerges gradually over 3—6 months. Results from a complete Sculptra series can last up to 2 years, making Sculptra one of the longest-lasting injectables available.
