BBL HERO (Broadband Light or Photo Rejuvenation)
Overview
Broadband Light (BBL) therapy—also known as a photofacial—is a safe, non-ablative treatment for a variety of cosmetic skin concerns including sun damage, pigmented lesions, melasma, acne, spider veins, and rosacea. BBL HERO is the next-generation BBL device, delivering faster, more powerful treatments that can cover large areas like the chest, arms, and back in a single session.
BBL HERO can minimize the appearance of sun damage and redness, even out skin tone, and stimulate collagen for an overall healthier, more luminous complexion.
How BBL HERO Works
BBL HERO emits precisely calibrated flashes of broadband light that are selectively absorbed by pigment in the skin (such as melanin in sunspots) and by hemoglobin (such as in spider veins and rosacea redness). The light energy heats and disrupts these targets while sparing the surrounding skin. As your body clears the disrupted pigment and vessels, your skin tone evens out, redness diminishes, and overall clarity improves.
BBL HERO (High Energy Rapid Output) upgrades traditional BBL with more power and faster pulse delivery, often shortening treatment time by approximately half compared to traditional BBL.
What BBL HERO Treats
- Sun damage and sunspots (solar lentigines)
- Melasma and uneven pigmentation
- Diffuse facial redness and rosacea
- Spider veins and vascular lesions
- Acne (active and post-acne)
- Freckles
- Wrinkles, fine lines, and dull texture
- Loss of overall skin clarity and tone
What to Expect
Before
Your visit begins with a consultation to confirm BBL HERO is right for your skin and concerns. Avoid sun exposure and self-tanner for at least 2 weeks before treatment.
During
Treatment typically takes 20—30 minutes for a face/neck/chest combination. You’ll wear protective eyewear; the device delivers a series of bright, warm pulses that most patients describe as a quick rubber-band snap.
After
Mild redness and warmth are normal and usually resolve within a few hours. Pigmented spots often look darker for 3—7 days as they “coffee-ground” and slough off, then fade. Vascular redness diffuses and lightens over 1—2 weeks. Strict daily SPF 30+ is essential after BBL.
Results and Longevity
Many patients see meaningful improvement after a single session, especially for sunspots and discrete pigmentation. A series of 3—5 treatments spaced 4—6 weeks apart often produces the best overall result. With consistent sun protection, results can be long-lasting; periodic maintenance treatments help offset new sun damage and natural aging.
Individual results vary. Your provider will discuss a realistic outlook during your consultation.
