Xeomin

Overview

Xeomin® is an advanced botulinum toxin type A formulation (incobotulinumtoxinA) renowned for its efficacy in treating facial wrinkles and fine lines. Like Botox and Dysport, Xeomin is an FDA-approved neuromodulator that relaxes the muscles producing dynamic wrinkles—but with a key formulation difference patients often appreciate.

How Xeomin Works (and What Makes It Different)

Xeomin is sometimes called the “naked” neurotoxin because it uses a unique purification process that removes the accessory proteins typically found in other botulinum products. By delivering only the active ingredient, Xeomin minimizes the risk of antibody formation—an issue that can, over time, reduce the effectiveness of repeated neurotoxin treatments in some patients.

For most patients, Xeomin produces precise, targeted muscle relaxation, effectively reducing dynamic wrinkles without compromising natural facial expression.

Xeomin vs. Botox and Dysport

  • All three are botulinum toxin type A neuromodulators, FDA-approved for cosmetic wrinkle reduction.
  • Xeomin is the only one without complexing/accessory proteins, which may benefit patients who develop reduced response over time.
  • Onset and duration are broadly similar (results in 3${EM}7 days, lasting 3${EM}4 months on average).
  • Dosing is product-specific; your injector adjusts to deliver an equivalent result.

What Xeomin Treats

  • Glabellar lines (the “11s” between the brows)
  • Forehead lines
  • Crow’s feet around the eyes
  • Other dynamic facial wrinkles

What to Expect

Before

Your appointment begins with a consultation. Your injector evaluates your facial movement and goals. Avoid alcohol and blood-thinners for 24—48 hours to minimize bruising.

During

The treatment takes about 10—15 minutes. Xeomin is delivered with a fine needle. Most patients describe the sensation as a quick pinch.

After

There is essentially no downtime. Avoid lying down, vigorous exercise, and rubbing the treated areas for 4 hours. Mild redness or pinpoint bruising can occur and resolves quickly.

Results and Longevity

Results typically begin in 3—7 days, with full effect at about 14 days. Xeomin generally lasts 3—4 months, comparable to other neuromodulators. With Xeomin, you can achieve natural-looking, long-lasting results and a refreshed appearance with minimal downtime.

Individual results vary. Your provider will discuss a realistic outlook during your consultation.
